What Customers Say About A Summer Affair:

He pushes away his children and expects them to know that he loves them simply because he does, though he doesn't show it. I was enjoying the story of June and Lucas more because Blue and Isabel's was dragging. There is a repressed man still suffering from the death of his wife that occurred years before. I've read the previous books in this series and found this one to be enjoyable. I looked for an epilogue and was disappointed that there wasn't one.All in all it was a nice story. As many stated before I felt that there was something missing in the story.

By itself I could probably appreciate the story more, but as a series it felt too recycled.

A woman, full of life, enters the picture.

"SPOILER ALERT" Also the fact that Isabel still left at the end in such a cowardly way made her seem so spineless and fickle.

However A Summer Affair is extremely similar to The Horsemaster's Daughter.

Also I had a problem with Isabel's adventures, it was never fully explained how the heck she paid for it all, there was just a vague description of being part of groups.

Though she has no experience with families, children, or marriage, she knows all the right answers and does everything perfectly to resolve everyone's problems.

In the end the man has changed practically everything about himself and she didn't really change much at all. That is why I only rated this at 3 stars.

I felt the ending required more resolution.

Though definitely not one of Susan Wiggs' best

I love Susan Wiggs. I'm not too sure with this one.I realized I was more interested in the secondary characters, like Lucas and June Li, what a great story line for them. Unfortunately, that's when I knew the story of Blue and Isabel was boring compared to the other two. I loved it, I actually fell inlove with the hero. Please, Ms. From then on, I was a fan of Ms. My first Susan Wiggs book was The Charm School and I was blown away. I'm always looking for historical romances in different cultures and would have loved to read more about these two.

Wiggs. I've read The Drifter and liked it a lot, Firebrand was great as well. I'm dying to read more about Lucas and June. Wiggs, write more about them.

This was a good one but it lacked in the middle. Started off with a crime then it seemed that part died in the middle until the last few chapters of the book. Then it was like oh yeah forgot about that.

You know an author has done a great job when you wish other characters in the book would be developed too and that through other stories you can meet the main characters again one day to see where they are at. Instead, she was a woman who came from the slums of a workhouse, was abandoned by her family and became a person of her choosing. I will buy more novels by this author and hope for additional characters and stories that stay with you long after the last page has turned. These characters grew on you as the book went on.

I was really pleased upon finishing the book to find it was a real gem of a story. I read her book "A Summer Affair" as the reviews were good and she showed up as a popular romance novelist. This sense of adventure and wonder made her interesting, appealing and lovable to all who met her. Blue found through Isabel that learning to laugh, love and enjoy life again was the best thing to do.

Love and intimacy scenes were limited in this book - only a few and minor at that. She traveled the world and did as she wanted in order to make a life for herself she never had as a child. In turn, Blue was a family man - surrounded by a honest and true son, warm parents, female siblings and friends he met during the war. Blue was dedicated to helping the poor and infirm and was the beloved town doctor. This is the first novel I've read by Susan Wiggs.

Isabel in turn learned that she didn't have to move to a new location each season in order to constantly leave her past behind. She understood finally that seasons of joy can be never ending and that love can make the past go away. When a book is this well written - strong characters, positive and witty dialogue and interesting plots - the love scenes take on less importance. I really liked this writers strong descriptions and in depth detailing when describing locations, events and emotions - it really draws you in. Suspicious activity occurred at the docks and questions arose around Isabel over who and what she really was. I liked first and foremost that neither the heroine, Isabel nor the hero, Blue were the typical leads you read about. The side characters of sisters, friends and family were also warmly told and that made for a richer story line.

I liked that they met after Isabel was shot in a dangerous event down at the docs and she held Blue at gun point to help her recover. In time, events unfolded to show Blue that mourning the loss of his first wife was right but, so was moving on to a new life. Everyone was so likable that you really wished to meet them. Happy reading.

Isabel is a strong, passionate, eager woman. But he has turned to be a bitter, sad, and heart broken man. She is too scared to fall in love as well as Dr. He meets Isabel Fish-Wooten, a runaway, who has no knowledge of her past. He meets Isabel Fish-Wooten, a women who never stays somewhere for more than one season. She tries to open up his heart again but neither is sure what is to come.Author Bio: Susan Wiggs published her first novel, "I Still Have This-CL", at the age of eight. She also has several RT awards, the Peninsula RWA Blue Boa, the Holt Medallion, and the Colorado Award of Excellence.Evaluation: Dr.

After getting degrees at Harvard, and SFA, she soon after became a math teacher. She wins the motherly love of his son. Her first book was published in 1987. It is my first novel I've read by Susan Wiggs.

Annotation: Blue Calhoun is one of the best doctors in San Francisco. Blue Calhoun could have any women is the Victorian city of San Francisco. He is so overly heartbroken of his wife's death ten years before. She helps him and his son to reconcile their hatred for each other and learn to talk about his mother's death. She is a recipient of two RITA awards. Will she leave when the season changes.I think this book was a great romance novel. Blue saves her life from a gunshot wound and is sceptable of her. Calhoun.

She is still a teacher and is a frequent workshop leader and a speaker at writer's conferences. Her novel, "The Charm School", was voted one of RWA's favorite books of the year. They know they love each other, but will he let himself love again. I am sure to read more of her books in the near future.
